He has spent 15+ years helping technology, medical device, life sciences, and advanced manufacturing companies protect innovation, manage risk, support growth, and build legal/IP infrastructure from formation through financing, commercialization, partnerships, diligence, acquisition, and IPO readiness.
His background includes roles as Vice President of Intellectual Property, General Counsel, Associate General Counsel, Senior IP Counsel, founder, and fractional counsel. David’s work spans patent portfolio strategy, invention capture, freedom-to-operate, IP transactions, licensing, joint development agreements, post-grant and litigation support, outside counsel management, and executive-level risk counseling.
Earlier in his career, David practiced at leading IP firms and was seconded to Panasonic in Osaka, Japan. Before becoming an attorney, he worked as a mechanical and medical-device engineer, giving him a practical understanding of how legal and IP decisions affect product development, technical execution, commercial leverage, and enterprise value.

Tim Tarbell

Tim advises biotechnology and life sciences companies on scientific and technical matters involving molecular biology, synthetic biology, gene therapy, research strategy, and product development. He helps teams understand complex science, evaluate technical risk, and connect laboratory work with broader development and commercialization objectives.
He has more than 14 years of experience in biotechnology research and development. His background includes mRNA construct design and assembly, in vitro transcription, molecular cloning, plasmid-library development for AAV production, cell-free DNA synthesis, next-generation sequencing, strain engineering, molecular diagnostics, qPCR assay development, and plant transformation.
Tim has held scientific roles with CSL, Dyno Therapeutics, LifeMine Therapeutics, Indigo, and Agrivida. Across those organizations, he has led custom cloning and molecular-diagnostics work, developed and improved experimental workflows, supported platform-scale research, and worked in highly cross-functional development environments.
